An 11-year-old student from the UAE has achieved third place at the 20th International Math and Science Olympiad (IMSO) among 276 participants worldwide. Yash Naresh Rathod, a sixth-grade student, showcased outstanding skills and knowledge, earning a bronze medal in mathematics. The first and second positions were secured by students from Tajikistan and Mongolia, respectively. To qualify for IMSO, students undergo a stringent selection process by the International Olympiad Foundation (IOF). Each year, the top 6 students in the UAE form the IMSO national team to represent the country on the global stage. Yash, a student at Allen Overseas, sees this achievement as a significant milestone in his journey to success.
Yash, reflecting on his victory, expressed that participating in IMSO posed both challenges and rewards. Balancing school assignments with Olympiad preparation proved to be demanding, but he acknowledged the invaluable support from his parents, friends, and school teachers, as well as the guidance provided by Allen Overseas. Yash credited his math coach at Allen Overseas for mentoring him through exam stress, helping him manage school responsibilities, and preparing him effectively for the competition. He emphasized that the institution not only played a crucial role in his success in competitions but also served as a guiding influence in shaping his future career aspirations.
Addressing the significance of IMSO, Keshav Maheswari, the Managing Director at Allen Overseas, emphasized that IMSO stands as a prestigious global competition with a rigorous selection process that highlights the exceptional level of excellence expected from participating students. He expressed pride in Yash for elevating the UAE's representation through his victory, considering it a testament to the academic prowess and problem-solving skills nurtured in students at Allen Overseas. The IMSO global platform brought together 276 talented individuals from 19 countries, promoting academic excellence, innovation, and international collaboration in education. Within this cohort, 139 engaged in the Mathematics category, while 137 participated in the science segment. Furthermore, the UAE's success at IMSO not only underscores its commitment to cultivating global intellectual capabilities but also signifies a significant contribution to international academic endeavours.
