Youth-Led Initiative Platform Launched in Beijing for Zero-Carbon Future

  • The 'Beautiful Heart Youth' platform and the 'Youth Zero-Carbon Public Welfare Action' project have been inaugurated in Beijing. They aim to motivate young people to engage in environmental preservation efforts and support China's ambitious zero-carbon goals.

The platform aims to meet the recognized demand for community service opportunities tailored for adolescents, with a focus on being kid-friendly. It will serve as a digital center for young people to participate in valuable community service endeavors under the guidance of philanthropic professionals.

Under the guidance of the China Philanthropy Research Institute at Beijing Normal University and jointly hosted by the Beijing Yixingzhe Foundation and Yishan, the platform receives support from strategic partners such as the Vanke Foundation and the Laoniu Brother and Sister Foundation.

"The platform is designed to empower adolescents with a sense of social responsibility and innovative capabilities", said Tao Ze, President and Founder of Yishan, during the launch. "We aim to support their growth and enable them to contribute to sustainable development both in China and globally".

During the event, the "2024 White Paper on Middle School Students' Community Service in China" was unveiled, emphasizing the crucial involvement of teenagers in community service endeavors. Initiated in 2021 and now in its third research phase, the white paper has gathered 15,000 questionnaires from middle and high school students and cataloged over 200 exemplary instances of public welfare initiatives over the past three years. The 2024 edition of the white paper, stemming from a five-month research initiative, offers insights into the motivations and challenges encountered by middle school students as they engage in public welfare activities.
