Vietnam and Korea join hands to promote education

  • The Vietnam-Korea Friendship Association (VKFA) in Ho Chi Minh City intends to organize cultural exchange programs, facilitating opportunities for the citizens of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation, as outlined in its third national congress for the term 2023-2028. During this period, the association is committed to modernizing approaches and content of its activities, fostering collaborations not only in cultural domains but also in areas such as education, training, science and technology, tourism, and economic investment.

The VKFA  plans to facilitate exchange and cooperation initiatives between educational institutions in Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK). The association aims to enhance collaboration with the RoK Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and work in conjunction with Korean and Vietnamese organizations and companies in the southern hub to organize charitable activities and events promoting trade and investment. The Congress has appointed a 15-member executive committee for the term, with Phan Nguyen Nhu Khue, the head of the Information and Education Board under the city Party Committee.

Addressing the congress, Khue noted the positive advancements witnessed by the association since its inception in 1995. In the preceding term, the association played a practical role in facilitating people-to-people exchanges within the city. It successfully established three new branches, namely the Vietnam-Korea Entrepreneurs Friendship Club, the Club of HCM City Labour Culture House, and the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Association at the University of Foreign Trade. The association continued its regular activities, which included commemorating the RoK National Day, marking the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and RoK, participating in festivals, and engaging in community and charity events organized by both Korean and Vietnamese organizations.
