UPL University Partners with ISRO to Boost Chemical Science Innovation

  • UPL University's new collaboration with the Space Application Centre (SAC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) demonstrates a strong dedication to leading research in chemical applications within materials science and related fields. Through this partnership, our faculty and students gain access to state-of-the-art research facilities, specialized knowledge, and invaluable data resources crucial for advancing research across various domains.

Apart from ISRO, UPL University has established noteworthy Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with esteemed national research organizations like the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), particularly with the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) and the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai. These collaborations strengthen our research capacities in environmental engineering, chemical sciences, and sustainable technologies. Working together with these research centers, our faculty members participate in collaborative research initiatives and pursue doctoral studies, thereby enhancing our academic environment significantly.

Internationally, our collaborations with organizations like Gexcon, Norway has aided in our commitment to advancing safety standards and process safety within the chemical industry. This partnership has positioned UPL University as a recognized center of excellence in process safety, contributing expertise and solutions that benefit local chemical industries. Our Post Graduate Program on Process Safety stands as a flagship course designed to meet the specific needs of the chemical sector. Additionally, students participating in exchange programs under the signed MoUs have gained invaluable international exposure at esteemed institutions such as Miami University, USA, and Newcastle University, Australia.

At the regional level, MoUs with bodies like the Gujarat Cleaner Production Centre (GCPC) and the Gujarat Environmental Management Institute (GEMI) in Gandhinagar has helped us excel towards a commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship. These collaborations facilitate collaborative research projects, training programs, and knowledge exchange initiatives that address regional environmental challenges and promote sustainable practices across industry and society.

The alliances with leading industry players such as Lanxess India Private Limited, Lupin Ltd., UPL Limited, Siemens Ltd., Colourtex Ind. Pvt. Ltd., and numerous others are pivotal in fostering innovation through strong industry-academia collaborations. These partnerships are instrumental in shaping curriculum that meets industry standards, providing students with practical learning opportunities through internships, and conducting research aimed at addressing real-world challenges in the chemical and related sectors. Such collaborations not only improve the job readiness of our graduates but also cultivate a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across our academic community.

UPL University maintains over 170 active MoUs and partnerships, steadily expanding its global network and bolstering its international presence. These collaborations enrich our academic and research environments, underscoring our commitment to advancing society through knowledge creation, innovation, and sustainable development initiatives. Moving forward, UPL University remains steadfast in forging new alliances and partnerships that will reinforce our leadership in academic excellence, research innovation, and societal contribution.
