The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) along with Government of Japan and Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech) is planning to provide eduaction in nano-satellite technologies. Post-graduate Study on Nano-Satellite Technologies(PNGT), a Fellowship Program which is introduced to provide knowledge on space technologies and satellite development for the nations not capable of independently building and launching craft into space. Every year three students are selected for the fellowship program which includes Master's Program and Doctoral Program for the duration of two years. Kyushu Institute of Technology is one of the best institute in Japan to provide space education and it also certifies the student after thesis defense.
UNOOSA calls this initiative as "Access to Space for All" and it aims to democratize space technology and its benefits. Japanase government will provide scholarships which includes 144,000 JPY per month for housing, food, local transportation, other expenses and an air ticket from home country to japan. Kyutech will take care of fees for matriculation, tution and entrance exams. Overall objective of this collaboration is to connect the global community with space technologies. All the 60 graduates who went back to their homeland had played major role in taking the space technology to new heights.
The new enrollments for PNST fellowship program 2024 is now active and will be available till 5th Jan 2024. UNOOSA Director Aarti Holla-Maini and Kyutech's Professor Mengu Cho said that the iniative taken would be of great imporatance in making the countries future leaders in space technology. The skills tought to the students will give them the idea on how to use those skills towards the betterment of society and economy. Students will be able to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by this programme.
