Union Education Minister calls for multidisciplinary Approach in the IITs and IIMs

  • The national educational policy, Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan has called upon IITs and IIMs to adopt a multidisciplinary approach. To shape Odisha's future and protect its heritage, the inauguration of the Odia Research Centre has focused on a wide range of research areas.

    Dharmendra Pradhan has strongly urged Indian Institutes of Technology and Indian Institutes of Management to adopt a multidisciplinarity approach in an important step towards aligning themselves with the nation's 2020 national education policy. Pradhan's directive seeks to promote the diversity and innovation of education in these elite institutions, with a focus on expanding their reach beyond traditional specialisations. He also highlighted the central role played by the Odisha Research Centre in examining diverse research areas covering an extensive history, culture, economy and social dimension at his inauguration as part of a collaboration with prominent institutions.

    Pradhan stressed the importance of introducing a Multidisciplinary Learning System in line with the National Education Policy 2020 as he addressed an audience, including Odia Governor Raghubar Das, Chhattisgarh's counterpart Biswa Bhusan Harichandan and others.The objective of the ORC is to conduct research in a wide range of areas, such as art, culture, archaeology, literature, sociology, political processes, agriculture, commerce, technology, healthcare, smart cities, climate change, and sustainable development. The focus of the Centre on critical fields such as electronics, rare earths, advanced minerals and cutting edge technologies has been highlighted by Minister Pradhan.
