The Ministry of Industry is functioning with international partners to enhance the quality of vocational education in Indonesia, according to an officer's report. "We are collaborating and cooperating with various stakeholders, including domestic and foreign industrial partners, industrial associations, regional governments, and overseas development partners. We aim to develop vocational education according to European standards", explained Masrokhan, head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI). He said that they have recently organized a series of vocational activities in collaboration with the German and Swiss governments.
From October to November 2023, several activities were held to enhance vocational education. These included a workshop on "Strengthening Institutional Management of Vocational Institutions", "International Workplace Trainer Training Batch 6", "Master Trainer Training for International Workplace Trainers in 2023" and a "Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Structured Internship Guidelines". Emmy Suryandari, the head of the Industrial Vocational Education Development Center (PPPVI), stated that the workshop titled "Strengthening Institutional Management of Vocational Institutions" was organized to enhance the quality of the vocational education training (VET) system in Indonesia. The aim was to provide innovative polytechnic management solutions for institutions to tackle global challenges and prepare for future demands.
According to her, the event was attended by thirty-six participants from the higher education unit of the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. The workshop which was held as part of a collaboration between BPSDMI and Swisscontact through the Skills for Competitiveness (S4C) Project, was facilitated by international experts from the International Training Center of the International Labor Organization (ITC-ILO).
