Taiwan, popular as Formosa for its beautiful panorama, has become a significant member of the global semiconductor industry chain in recent years. The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) indicated that Taiwan's semiconductor market is listed among the top five in the world. In addition to developing technology, Taiwan's semiconductor industry chain also reacts to the international STEM sensation by encouraging science popularization activities.
Taiwan's renowned science popularization activity "The Taiwan Science Circle Island Train" has been promoted for 8 years. The government has teamed up a vast collection of scientific research institutions, private sectors, and non-profit organizations (NPOs) with the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) to design 330 scientific experiments that can be carried out on a moving train. While the train is in motion, with high school scholars lead elementary school students to undergo scientific principles.
In 2023, they introduced a program with eight main areas of priority: net zero carbon emissions, green sustainability, cybersecurity webs, artificial intelligence (AI), precision health, space technology, semiconductors, quantum technology, and introductory science. The popularization has won 12,000 primary school students in Taiwan. The students reacted enthusiastically and completed an intellectual and enjoyable scientific investigation journey. In the future, The Taiwan Science Circle Island Train will continue to nurture elementary school students innovatively and practically, instilling enthusiasm and curiosity for science in the spirits of the next generation, and creating a sustainable future.
