During the academic year 2024-25, the Swiss Government launched the 'Excellence Scholarship for Pakistani Students' in partnership with the Higher Education Council (HEC). According to sources from the local HEC chapter, scholarships for different programs, including one-year post-research, master's three-year post- master's, Ph.D., and one-year Post-Doctoral Programmes (PDP), have been offered for ambitious students. Candidates must submit applications to the Swiss embassy by September 30. According to local HEC sources, more information may be accessed on the official website.
The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships' principal goal is to give educational opportunities to overseas scholars studying for master's or doctorate degrees in Switzerland. The Federal Committee for Scholarships for Foreign Students will choose the recipients of these grants. Separately, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has launched a scholarship program for students from Gilgit-Baltistan to study at prestigious Pakistani universities and institutes. Applications are being welcomed from excellent Gilgit-Baltistan students interested in pursuing undergraduate studies (four/five-year BS programs) at HEC-recognized public sector universities and degree-awarding institutions, according to an HEC official (DAIs).
Under the scheme named "Undergraduate Scholarship Program for Gilgit-Baltistan Students in Leading Pakistani Universities/Institutions (Batch-III)," these scholarships are available for the academic year 2023-24 and include all fields of study or disciplines. According to the official, candidates must have a domicile or local certificate from Gilgit-Baltistan and have finished their Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or its equivalent.
