Swedish delegation for higher education and research visiting Chennai

  • During a visit by a Swedish higher education and research delegation to Chennai on November 21, students aiming to study abroad will have the chance to explore study opportunities in Sweden. The Study in Sweden fair aims to showcase multiple study options in Sweden, particularly for Indian undergraduate students. Representatives from prominent Swedish universities like the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and the University of Jonkoping will provide firsthand information on available postgraduate programs. Additionally, students can benefit from free counseling sessions and gain insights into scholarships, visa procedures, and student life in Sweden.

The Consulate General of Sweden in Mumbai and the Embassy of Sweden in India, in collaboration with the Office of Science and Innovation in New Delhi and the Nordic Centre India, have organized consecutive education fairs in Chennai, Mumbai, and New Delhi scheduled from November 21-24. These events aim to facilitate connections between prospective students and Swedish alumni through the Swedish Alumni Network India. The delegates plan to engage with prominent Indian research institutions such as the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi to explore potential research collaborations and institutional partnerships.

Arun Vasu, the Honorary Consul for Sweden in South India, highlighted the significance of the Swedish Higher Education and Research Delegation in fostering exchange opportunities for students and researchers between Sweden and India. This initiative aims to promote innovation beneficial for both nations at a time when international cooperation holds heightened importance. Sweden and India share robust ties in higher education and research. Their joint innovation partnership for a sustainable future, initiated in 2018, has already led to funding for 44 projects, with an additional 13 projects funded last year.
