Next UG and PG admission stage opens, offering 91k vacant positions

  • The higher education department has announced that it will hold a phase-III of admissions into undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses in degree colleges and state public universities, after more than 91,000 seats remained vacant following two phases. The state has a total of 2.71 lakh UG seats in 1,047 institutions this year. After phase-II admission got over, 83,719 UG seats remained vacant

    Similarly, 110 institutions in the state offered 27,816 PG seats. But after admission of 20,078 students in two phases, 7,738 seats are vacant this year. Students, who could not participate in the two phases of UG admissions, can take part in the phase-III process which will end on November 30. The common application form (CAF) has been made available online on the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal from Saturday. Students can submit applications till November 12. The first selection list along with waitlisted applicants will be published on November 17 and students can report at their institutions for admission from November 18 to 20. Waitlisted candidates can take admission on November 28 and 29.

    The higher education department in Odisha has announced the timeline and schedule for phase-III admission into undergraduate and postgraduate courses in degree colleges and state public universities. Over 91,000 seats are currently vacant after phase-II admissions. To accommodate students who missed the previous phases, the department has introduced phase-III admissions. The online application process will begin on November 4 and end on November 12, with the first selection list being published on November 17. The admission process for PG courses will start on November 7 and continue until November 30.

    The Indian government has announced an additional round of admissions for vacant seats in undergraduate medical courses across the country. The move comes after the Supreme Court ordered the filling of around 2,200 vacant seats, including 156 in the all-India quota. These vacancies include seats that were declared invalid for violating norms. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare sought an extension of the admissions deadline to prevent the wastage of precious medical seats. The new deadline for admissions is November 15.
