New Educational Aid Program Aims to Integrate Tibetan Schools with Chinese Curriculum

  • As part of an important endeavor aimed at upgrading Tibet's education, China has launched the Tibet Shaanxi Experimental School in Ngari Prefecture. It is a cooperative initiative where Shaanxi Province undertakes thorough assistance in funding, curriculum establishment, and education supplies. Measures have been introduced to improve schooling in the form of creating school-based curriculam, renovating administrative systems, and providing artistic and sporting courses in order to maintain quality standards of education. Such endeavors seek to make teaching and learning efficient, bringing high-quality resources from Shaanxi to Ngari.

The State Ethnic Affairs Commission has rewarded the school's initiative by conferring on it the title of ‘National Innovative Model School for Ethnic Unity and Progress’ This recognition underscores the school's contribution to educational excellence and ethnic unity.

Although the report does not detail when the school was founded, it adds that the school has been working on improving its curriculum for many years in a display of dedication towards improvement. Yet, whether other parts of Tibet have had similar schools established after the success, as reported, of the Shaanxi-Ngari experimental school is not well indicated.

This initiative aligns with China's broader efforts to improve education in Tibet, as evidenced by other projects like the Lhasa Jiangsu Experimental High School, which has benefited students from remote areas, providing them with modern facilities and diverse extracurricular activities.

These measures highlight China's endeavors to augment educational prospects in Tibet with an aim to close regional gaps and attain ethnic harmony through new models of schooling.
