Middlesex University, Dubai, has entered into a partnership with Fortinet, a global leader in cybersecurity, through its participation in the Academic Partner Program. This collaboration signifies a noteworthy advancement in the university's dedication to enhancing cybersecurity education. Aligned with the Fortinet Training Institute, the Academic Partner Program aims to prepare the future workforce, working with higher education institutions globally to provide Fortinet's acclaimed training and certifications. This initiative aims to empower students to develop into proficient cybersecurity professionals, contributing to Fortinet's goal of training 1 million individuals in cybersecurity by 2026.
MDX Dubai, as an Academic Partner, will seamlessly incorporate Fortinet NSE certifications into its existing courses. The university will also offer the content as standalone self-paced learning, covering the spectrum from Fortinet Certified Fundamentals to Fortinet Certified Solution Specialist levels. To enrich the educational experience, MDX Dubai will utilize Fortinet network security technologies, providing students with hands-on lab exposure. Beyond delivering NSE courses, MDX Dubai and Fortinet will engage in collaborative efforts in research and development, exploring avenues for knowledge exchange through workshops, guest lectures, internships, and faculty visits.
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing occurred during a ceremony attended by Fortinet executives, MDX Dubai undergraduate security students, and staff at the university's Dubai Knowledge Park campus. The collaboration aligns with the UAE Government's Advanced Skills Strategy and the objectives of Centennial Plan 2071, where providing specialized skills to students is a key priority. It also aligns with the goals of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, which aims to develop a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy and establish a secure and robust cyberinfrastructure in the region.
