Malaysian universities join hands with India to support education

  • The agreement was signed virtually, with the presence of Kazi Nazrul University's Vice Chancellor, Professor Debashish Banerjee, registrar Chandan Konar, and Professor Arindam Biswas from the School of Mines and Metallurgy. Representing Taylor's University of Malaysia were Professor David Ashirvatham, the Executive Dean for the Faculty of Build Environment, Engineering, Technology, and Design, and Professor Sayan Kumar Roy from the Computer Science Department.

This marks the initial instance in which the esteemed Malaysian University has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with any university in West Bengal. In a conversation with The Statesman, Professor Debashish Banerjee, the Vice-Chancellor of KNU, expressed that this agreement will bring significant benefits to both the students and faculty members of the respective universities. According to the MoU signed, professors from both institutions will have the opportunity to collaboratively conduct research work. Additionally, the agreement entails the implementation of student and faculty exchange programs.

Researchers and students affiliated with KNU have the opportunity to visit Taylor's University and engage in research activities and higher education for a specified duration. Both universities plan to organize meetings, conferences, and talent exchanges. Situated in Asansol, the largest industrial hub in the state with numerous steel plants and coal mines, Kazi Nazrul University has previously contributed to technology and research initiatives for the local coal mining industry.
