Malaysian Education Department plans to reform the education system: 2024

  • The Sabah Education Department has outlined nine key areas of emphasis as it aims to enhance the standard of education in the state in 2024. According to the director of the Sabah Education Department, Datuk Raisin Saidin, these focal points have been identified for implementation this year. One of the priorities is the execution of 'Quality Academic Delivery' to ensure the effective and high-quality delivery of the national curriculum across all education levels, from pre-school to form six. Additionally, the department will concentrate on improving access to quality education, aiming to expand educational opportunities for students at all levels, encompassing both government and private educational institutions.

Another aspect involves enhancing the quality of education for students with special needs. Another focal point is to bolster and foster students' passion for acquiring knowledge, aiming for it to become an ingrained practice in their lives. The emphasis here is on cultivating a digitally literate generation by incorporating digital technology into lessons. Initiatives will be undertaken to supply equipment and enhance network infrastructure, contributing to improved digital proficiency among school children throughout the year. Additionally, the department will concentrate on ensuring zero non-compliance in assessments and examinations, particularly in areas that could impact candidates' results, especially in examinations such as SPM and STPM.

Another priority involves reinforcing a quality culture within human resource management. This encompasses fostering a culture characterized by integrity, innovation, and competitiveness to achieve educational objectives while enhancing the integrity of all members within the state Education Department. The financial management of budget allocations is also targeted to ensure optimal spending based on financial procedures. Special attention will be given to the improvement of deteriorating schools, the establishment of new schools, and the addition of school dormitories as identified in the 12th Malaysia Plan to be executed, as stated by Raisin.
