Vincent Chian, the Principal of Fairview International School in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, spoke on the tremendous transformation of education in the digital era. He said that the growth of students in the present world is influenced by games and technology, so teachers and mentors have to think accordingly and have a clear viewpoint. Learning techniques which are student-focused must be embraced and teaching should be done in the language familiar to students and according to their preferences. He suggested that educators should meet students personally and then decide on the teaching techniques instead of confirming by themselves.
Vincent shared five key principles of game-based learning that he recently discussed in a CPD session at a university. Vincent also underscores that the principles can be applied without the need for esoteric software and can be implemented using simple tools like spreadsheets or paper. The discussion inquired into how combining different approaches can shape the future of education by enhancing student engagement and customizing instruction to student strengths and weaknesses. The potential benefits, difficulties, and involvement for educators and policymakers as they struggle to create more effective and student-centred learning environments were also spotlighted.
At 27th Elets World Education Summit also included conversations about game-based learning. Speakers drew attention to the features of game-based learning. Learning should be game-based and instruction should be data-driven in Classrooms. Amalgamation of these two approaches will lay the future Roadmap for Education.
