Isuzu Tesda Training Center Celebrates Milestone with Batch 21 Graduates

  • The Isuzu Heart and Smile Project (IHSP), spearheaded by Isuzu Motors Ltd. of Japan (IML), marked the graduation of the 21st batch from the Isuzu Tesda Auto Mechanic Training Center in Tacloban. This group comprises 17 scholars who have successfully achieved the esteemed National Competency 4 (NC 4) certification for Service Technicians. Tesda stands for the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

Since its establishment in 2008, the IHSP has been a symbol of optimism for disadvantaged youth, providing extensive training spanning NC 1 to NC 4 certifications over a two-year duration. The program is celebrated not only for its rigorous training regimen but also for its strong support network, offering complimentary accommodations to all participants. In addition to the standard Tesda curriculum, Isuzu enriches the learning journey with specialized courses on Isuzu diesel technology and related fields. This comprehensive approach guarantees that graduates acquire both fundamental and specialized competencies essential in the automotive sector.

"We are very proud of the Isuzu Heart and Smile Project as it not only provides free education to Filipino youths but also transforms their lives by offering them more opportunities to excel in this field", said Isuzu Philippines Corp. President Tetsuya Fujita.

Graduates from the Isuzu Tesda Auto Mechanic Training Center can further their expertise through the Isuzu Global Service Corp. Select graduates receive advanced training focused on light—to heavy-duty truck servicing, reinforcing Isuzu's commitment to excellence in after-sales support.

During his address, Tetsuya Ikemoto, Director of the Board and Managing Executive Officer of Sales at IML, stressed the significance of applying their acquired knowledge effectively. He emphasized the graduates' role in advancing their company's growth and making positive contributions to their families and society. Ikemoto also urged them to uphold and bolster the school's standing by achieving outstanding achievements and maintaining exemplary records.

With the completion of batch 21, the school has now graduated a total of 403 individuals, reinforcing Isuzu's global aftersales network. Concurrently with the graduation ceremony, Isuzu welcomed batch 25, comprising 18 new trainees. These incoming scholars will commence their training this month with the goal of attaining NC 4 certification over the next two years. Isuzu's commitment to cultivating highly skilled service technicians not only strengthens its position as a leading truck brand but also ensures exceptional customer service. Graduates of the program have consistently showcased outstanding service abilities, garnering acclaim both domestically and internationally.
