Indian students receive nearly Rs 15 crore in scholarships to study in France; 75% select business studies

  • France grants scholarships of Rs 15 crore or more to Indian students, according to Emmanuel Lenain, France's ambassador to India. The French government has announced a five-year visa, specialized language learning programs, and a Choose France Tour 2023 for Indian students seeking higher education in the nation. According to the ambassador, management and business majors are chosen by 75% of Indian students for further study in France. Engineering, science and technology, arts, design, sport, hospitality, culinary arts, and fashion are also popular among Indian students. The majority of students (80%) pick master's programs, while 13% choose bachelor's programs. While discussing the country's objective of welcoming 30,000 Indian students by 2030, Lenain remarked that there are "several" reasons for Indian students to visit France, including tuition prices of 2,700 euros per year for bachelor's degrees and 3,700 euros for master's degrees.

About the introduction of foreign classrooms, the ambassador stated that over 95% of Indian students currently choose one of the English-taught programs provided by colleges and institutions. The government will provide specialized programs in which Indian students will receive training in the French language and other fields to assist them with their academics and adaptation to the French environment. According to Lenain, France provides a two-year post-study work visa for post-graduates with a French Master's degree. He urged students seeking study visas to follow the Etudes en France system, which is overseen by Campus France.
