Indian Institute of Technology Madras is setting up a new career guidance centre

  • In order to integrate all placements, internships and student career development activities, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras has set up a new career guidance centre. The student-run Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) of IIT Madras has also been integrated into this. The Institute aims at setting up a single platform for providing support to students from various career paths, through the establishment of its Career Pathway Centre. According to a statement from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, this initiative is an essential step in ensuring that students have opportunities, tools and skills they need for their successful entry into today's ever changing professional landscape.

The aim of the Career Pathways Centre is to encourage students to take independent decisions on their career paths. It is aimed at providing students with the knowledge, skills and experience needed to be successful in an entrepreneurial environment within a single facility. With regard to connecting students with companies and learning more about career possibilities, the Office of Internship &Placement facilitates this process.

The Career Development Cell offers soft skills training to complement academic readiness and the Entrepreneurship Cell serves as a testing ground for students to explore self-employment opportunities. The new centre will offer students a wide range of training, opportunities to build networks and engage in entrepreneurship as well as improve their employability.Professional training of students in skill development, honing entrepreneurial efforts of potential student groups and facilitating recruitment of students by recruitment agencies for placements and internships will be key functions of the newly established Career Pathway Centre.
