IIT-Delhi will open an Abu Dhabi New campus for higher education in January

  • Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT-Delhi, announced  that their proposal to build a new campus in Abu Dhabi has come to fruition, with the university conducting outreach programs in the UAE ahead of its January 2024 debut. He stated that the institute will soon open a new campus in Haryana's Jhajjar. He did not, however, elaborate on how the students will be admitted to the Abu Dhabi campus. According to him, the Jhajjar campus would focus on medical technologies, with a particular emphasis on sports medicine. Our Delhi campus is not as vast as some of the other IITs, and we are constrained by space. "Expanding our campuses is a solution to this problem," added Mr Banerjee. "The Abu Dhabi campus is envisioned as a research-centric campus of the institute that will contribute to the research and academic ecosystem of Abu Dhabi and the UAE, as well as contribute to the expansion of IIT Delhi and deepen the connectivity between the two nations," he added. When asked what the institute was doing to ensure the mental well-being of students who were unable to cope with the rigors of studying at the institute, the Director stated that the matter was a serious worry for the institute. "We have 24X7 counsellors at the institute for anyone seeking help, and we have various student-led and faculty-led efforts in place to identify students who may be experiencing challenges," Mr. Banerjee explained. The institute stated that its annual convocation will be held on August 12, with 2,350 UG and PG students receiving degrees. The convocation's keynote speaker will be Dr. Gagandeep Kang, a prominent virologist and professor of microbiology at Christian Medical College in Vellore.
