Filipinos will get scholarships for higher education: Japan

  • The 2025 Ajinomoto Postgraduate Scholarship Grant is currently available for aspiring Filipinos interested in advancing their education in Japan. This initiative aims to provide financial support to deserving individuals seeking assistance for postgraduate studies in the areas of food technology and human nutrition. The application deadline is March 1, 2024. The complete scholarship for a master's degree will be allocated to a reputable Japanese university, including but not limited to the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, Nagoya University, Institute of Science Tokyo, Ochanomizu University, Waseda University, or Kagawa Nutrition University.

    "I am incredibly grateful for this exceptional opportunity to pursue my studies with a full scholarship at one of the world's most esteemed universities. The Ajinomoto Foundation and Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation have consistently provided me with timely support and guidance. This not only grants me academic advantages but also allows me to immerse myself in new cultures, savour diverse cuisines, and form meaningful connections", expressed Johndel Obra, the recipient of the 2023 award, currently enrolled in a master's program in Nuclear Engineering at the University of Tokyo. Ann Elaine Wag, reflecting on being awarded the 2022 Ajinomoto scholarship, expressed excitement as Japan was her dream destination. Apart from its cutting-edge technology and pioneering research, she discovered a welcoming and warm country that felt like a second home.

    Ajinomoto's yearly scholarship initiative stands as a significant commitment to enhancing food science by fostering educational progress. The company aspires to play a role in promoting global well-being. Roann Co, the General Manager of Corporate Planning and Public Relations at Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation (APC), explains that the annual scholarship program is Ajinomoto's way of giving back and empowering the future of food technology and nutrition in the Philippines. The scholarship package encompasses the candidate's examination, admission, and tuition fees, as well as covering medical and psychological exams, Japanese language training, airfare, and a monthly stipend.
