Ensuring academic achievement is a collective responsibility: Malaysia

  • The active engagement of parents, the community, and the private sector as dedicated collaborators in education plays a crucial role in the success of the third phase of the Malaysia Education Development Plan. Sibu District Education Officer Ahli Chikba emphasizes the importance of seamless collaboration among entities such as the Ministry of Education, the State Education Department, and the District Education Office. He highlights that this collaboration should extend to school management to address various issues, with a particular focus on tackling cases of bullying, dropouts, and crime.

"All stakeholders need to channel their efforts, particularly in addressing the various challenges within the community, and work collaboratively to overcome them", stated Ahli during the Excellence Award Ceremony at SMK Lanang. He emphasized that the high-quality education system has contributed to producing students who excel in academics, sports, skills, and culture. Ahli further congratulated the school for successfully organizing and conducting the ceremony to honour students' achievements.

"Occurrences of this spirit, function as a means of appreciating and inspiring students. Achieving success is a result of hard work, determination, and patience in navigating life's challenges, particularly in environments lacking stimulation, the influence of negative peers, and potentially discordant home atmospheres", he remarked. In this context, he expressed a desire for teachers that they should pay attention to the Ministry of Education's call to nurture outstanding students. The event was attended by School Principal Kho Say Wei and Deputy Chairperson of the Parent-Teacher Association, Nima Lee.
