Education package for orphan youngsters in Gwadar

  • The Chinese government is particularly interested in developing Gwadar's educational system. A meeting was conducted between District Officer Education Gwadar, General Manager Administration of Gwadar Port, Zhao Yaoding, and Jerry Stunt, General Manager Administration, according to a handout provided by the DGPR. Meanwhile, the Chinese Consulate General in Karachi, People's Republic of China, has authorized a proposal for Gwadar's orphan pupils. The Government of Balochistan's Education Department has identified and presented a list of 1201 orphans in Gwadar. The program will cost RMB 350,000 in total. Two-thirds of the funds will be spent on school bags and other stationery for pupils.

    The remainder will be distributed to orphans in the form of cash. The distribution system has been negotiated by China Overseas Ports Holding Company, the District Administration, and the Education Department of Gwadar, according to Gwadar. According to a Gwadar District Administration official, China's diplomatic missions in Pakistan, with the assistance of Chinese firms operating in Gwadar, have increased socio-economic and human resource development initiatives in Gwadar. He also mentioned that Gwadar's schools are being upgraded. The Chinese embassy recently distributed 10,000 free ration grain sacks to needy Gwadar residents. Each household received three 10-kilogram bags. The majority of winners were from the fishing community.
