AUS Teams up with Nokia for Engineering Education via Al Nukhba

  • The American University of Sharjah (AUS) recently welcomed Nokia into its College of Engineering (CEN) Al Nukhba program through a Memorandum of Agreement signed on campus. This partnership aims to facilitate collaborative efforts in research, development, training programs, internships, information exchange, and personnel exchange.

A key aspect of this collaboration is the provision of enriching internship opportunities and hands-on training experiences for AUS students. Additionally, both AUS and Nokia will jointly supervise selected capstone projects and collaborative research endeavors, leveraging their combined expertise to tackle real-world challenges.

Nokia's involvement extends beyond technical training to include a specific focus on mentoring female engineering students, promoting diversity and inclusion within the field. Furthermore, students will benefit from organized field trips aimed at exposing them to industry practices and cutting-edge technologies.

Dr. Fadi Aloul, Dean of CEN, expressed the university's commitment to providing students with comprehensive learning experiences that prepare them for success in an ever-evolving technological landscape. By partnering with Nokia, the aim is to offer students access to advanced technology and real-world insights, empowering them to become innovative leaders and problem solvers in digital transformation and telecommunications.

Rima Manna, Vice President of Network Infrastructure for Middle East at Nokia, echoed this sentiment, highlighting their dedication to academic excellence and industry collaboration. Through internships, research projects, and mentoring, the partnership seeks to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the dynamic fields of digital transformation and telecommunications.

The AUS College of Engineering's Al Nukhba program continues to lead in fostering innovation and excellence in engineering education. These strategic industry partnerships further strengthen the college's commitment to providing students with exceptional opportunities for growth and practical experience, solidifying its reputation as a leader in the field.
