Atlas Motivating Children through A Positive Learning Environment

  • For more than six decades, Atlas has been a source of inspiration in fostering education, serving as a steadfast pillar in transforming the aspirations of students into vibrant realities. Going beyond its initial role as a prominent stationery provider in Sri Lanka, Atlas has dedicated itself to providing a comprehensive and joyful learning experience for school children.

Throughout its journey, Atlas has consistently strived to nurture a generation equipped with valuable skills, furthering its societal mission by fostering a high-quality learning atmosphere for schoolchildren. The organization actively addresses the obstacles faced by children, parents, and educators that may impede the realization of children's full potential. Atlas plays a guiding role in empowering individuals to pursue their dreams, promoting equal access to education, elevating its standards, and ensuring the mental well-being of students. In essence, Atlas transforms the stress of studying into a pleasurable and enriching learning experience.

Recognizing Atlas' enduring dedication to advancing education, Asitha Samaraweera, the Managing Director of Atlas, conveyed enthusiasm, stating, "Despite the availability of free education in Sri Lanka, approximately 25,000 students encounter yearly challenges leading to dropouts due to financial constraints. This presents hardships for families in meeting school-related expenses such as uniforms and textbooks. Acknowledging this reality, we view it as both a responsibility and a duty for all of us to ensure that every child has the resources to seize such opportunities. Initiatives like Atlas Sipsavi, Atlas Gurugaru, Light a Future, and Atlas Learn are designed to enhance learning opportunities for all."

In order to promote equal access to education, Atlas launched the Atlas Sipsavi initiative, championing the principle of "no child left behind." This program primarily extends financial assistance to 250 students for a duration of up to five years, aiming to instill hope in each child, irrespective of their individual challenges. Beyond financial aid, the initiative also involves providing material donations to children and enhancing school infrastructure. Furthermore, through the Light a Future project, Atlas has effectively secured the educational rights of more than 50,000 children.
