Abu Dhabi University Faculty Receives US Patent in Quantum Technology

  • Abu Dhabi University's Professor Montasir Qasymeh, the Associate Provost for Research and Academic Development and Electrical Engineering Professor, has been granted a patent in quantum technology by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), highlighting the university's ongoing achievements in research and innovation. The patent, titled 'System for Coherent Microwave Transmission Using a Non-Refrigerated Waveguide', aims to reshape quantum communication and holds the potential to improve the efficiency and reliability of quantum computing. This innovation is anticipated to transform practical applications across various industries and facilitate the development of modular superconducting quantum computers with thousands or millions of qubits. Beyond technological advancements, the patent also provides ADU students with opportunities to enhance their expertise in the high-tech sector, preparing them for successful careers in research and innovation.

    Professor Qasymeh's research plays a crucial role in scaling quantum computation efficiently by establishing connections between distinct quantum nodes through coherent signalling. The study has unveiled key findings, underscoring the significance of noise reduction, the utilization of cryogenic preamplification, the exploration of modular quantum computing, the attainment of quantum supremacy and scalability, and the improvement of cost-effectiveness.
