The Role of Science and Digital Transformation in China's Education Vision

  • China’s education system is one of the largest and most rigorous in the world, built on a foundation of discipline, academic excellence, and national development. The education system is organized into primary, secondary, and tertiary, and nine years of free state-funded education. Children attend kindergarten between 1-3 years old and primary school at 6-7 years old for six years. Secondary education is divided into junior high school and senior high school, both lasting three years. Post-secondary schooling is delivered by a comprehensive system of universities, colleges, and professional schools, with the leaders being Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Fudan University driving global academic innovation. The Ministry of Education is advancing science education at primary and secondary levels by introducing thorough curricula and using capable teachers to facilitate scientific and technological innovation. At the same time, the 'Double Reduction Policy' seeks to ease learning burdens on students by reducing homework and extracurricular tutoring, while advocating for an equally balanced and just learning system. These moves demonstrate China's sincerity in building a high-quality education system for developing innovations and meeting evolving societal needs.
