The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and Peking University Health Science Center have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in developing medical technology through collaborative research and academic exchanges. The alliance seeks to capitalize on PolyU's strengths in healthcare education and Peking University's clinical research strengths to drive interdisciplinary innovation and improve medical training.
After the signing ceremony, delegations from both universities held talks on possible cooperation in medical education, research activities, and student cultivation. They discussed how to merge their teaching resources, including a visit to major facilities like the Institute of Medical Technology, the Experimental Teaching Center of Nursing, and the Clinical Skills Training Center at the Third Hospital of Peking University.
With a healthcare education experience spanning more than 45 years, PolyU has educated over 52,000 graduates in areas such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, radiotherapy, optometry, speech therapy, and nursing. The university is well-equipped with a strong infrastructure of over 1,300 teaching and research staff in the healthcare field, in addition to 90 state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities.
This partnership contributes to PolyU's expanding portfolio of partnerships with Mainland China universities and hospitals. It also supports the university's initiative to set up a third medical school to meet the changing healthcare needs of Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
The collaboration between PolyU and Peking University is set to propel innovative research and develop the next generation of healthcare practitioners, advancing medical technology and overall healthcare system development in the region.
