Argentina to Integrate Ethereum and Blockchain into High School Curriculum

  • In a pioneering move, the ETH Kipu Foundation, dedicated to advancing the Ethereum ecosystem in Latin America, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with the Ministry of Education of the City of Buenos Aires. This collaboration aims to incorporate Ethereum and blockchain technology into high school curricula across the city, marking a significant advancement in educational innovation for the region.

Starting August 27, high school students in Buenos Aires will have the opportunity to engage in professional internships focused on blockchain projects, as part of this initiative. This integration is designed to equip students with cutting-edge knowledge in smart contracts and blockchain technology, positioning them at the forefront of the tech economy.

Additionally, the partnership includes the development of an online Solidity course tailored for young adults aged 18 and over. Solidity is the programming language used for writing Ethereum applications. This course aims to train 500 students, providing them with the skills needed to enter the Ethereum developer community and contribute to the local tech ecosystem with practical, business-oriented applications.

To support the successful implementation of this program, the ETH Kipu Foundation is also investing in the professional development of educators. Thirty teachers will undergo a 'hybrid training' program, ensuring they are well-prepared to teach Ethereum and blockchain concepts effectively.

Paula D., Co-Founder of the ETH Kipu Foundation, expressed her enthusiasm for the program's potential impact, stating, "This initiative will open up new career opportunities for young people and place Argentina at the forefront of the global blockchain movement". The foundation’s effort reflects Buenos Aires’ growing role as a crypto-friendly hub, with the city already planning to operate Ethereum nodes by 2023.

While the current focus is on Buenos Aires, there has been no announcement regarding the expansion of this initiative to other cities or provinces within Argentina. However, the integration of blockchain education into high school curricula is poised to significantly influence the future of technology and innovation in the region.
