Vietnam National University aims for World-Class University Status

  • Ho Chi Minh City serves as a premier hub for undergraduate and postgraduate education, alongside extensive research in science and technology. Boasting a faculty and staff contingent exceeding 6,000 individuals, and a student body comprising over 95,000 undergraduates and 9,000 postgraduates across 36 affiliate units, including seven universities, the institution is dedicated to aligning its educational standards with global benchmarks. Efforts are directed towards refining training programs, enhancing research quality, fortifying governance structures, and fostering international collaborations to bolster its regional and global standing in academia. 

    Distinguished by 125 academic programs meeting international accreditation standards, the Vietnam National University stands out as Vietnam's leader in internationally accredited programs. In institutional rankings, the university consistently maintains a position within the 801-1,000 range in QS World University Rankings and secures the 167th spot in QS Asia University Rankings. Particularly noteworthy is its exclusive standing as the only Vietnamese higher education institution listed within the top 301-350 in QS Graduate Employability Rankings.

    Internationally, the university actively participates in educational networks like the ASEAN University Network and collaborates with esteemed institutions such as Seoul National University, the National Institute of Informatics in Japan, and Harvard Medical School. Managing 185 international projects valued at over $132 million, funded by entities like the World Bank and development agencies from the US, Australia, and South Korea, underscores its commitment to global collaboration and advancement in higher education.
