The '2024 Thailand Education and Job Fair,' hosted by the Thai embassy, served as a symbol of optimism at the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Centre (CJCC) within the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), shedding light on the interconnected paths of education and employment.
Thai Ambassador Cherdkiat Atthakor addressed the eager young audience, underscoring the embassy's shift in focus. He noted, "Last year, we expanded our scope beyond organizing traditional job fairs to include educational opportunities." This strategic change reflects a deep understanding of the interdependence between learning and working. The event featured over 20 companies and universities, offering not only job opportunities but also scholarships for Cambodians to pursue studies in Thailand. Notable fields included business, engineering, and the Thai language, aiming to equip students with the skills essential in today's globalized landscape.
Pok Pan, the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, emphasized the fair's significance in solidifying the bonds between Thailand and Cambodia. He remarked, "This event is not solely about employment or education; it's about fortifying the ties between our nations." The fair is considered a cornerstone in enhancing student qualifications, aligning with the Cambodian government's aspirations for peace, national unity, political stability, and economic development. Additionally, it seeks to address the skills gap in the Cambodian and ASEAN labour markets, enhancing vocational training and fostering stronger relations between the two countries.
For students, it provides a chance to pursue their aspirations without financial constraints, thanks to the scholarships available. For participating companies and universities, it represents an opportunity to invest in the future workforce. This initiative showcases the power of collaboration and forward-thinking in shaping a future where education and employment intertwine, nurturing a generation of well-rounded, skilled professionals prepared to contribute to the growth and stability of their respective countries.
