Peter the Great Polytechnic University (SPbPU) recently welcomed a delegation of students from China Petroleum University (Beijing) for an international internship program organized by Gazprom Neft. Accompanied by Fan Xiaoyuan, an international office specialist, the students participated in the Symphony of Cooperation program, which fosters cross-cultural and academic exchanges in the field of energy.
The visit follows the success of last year's international project, 'Embrace a Green and Wise Future of Energy', held at China Petroleum University. This initiative led to the establishment of a Russian-Chinese summer camp in China, where top students from corporate master’s programs in 'IT — Enterprise Infrastructure' and 'IT Economics and Business Analysis' gathered for collaborative learning.
During their visit to SPbPU, the Chinese students explored various facets of the university’s advanced research and educational infrastructure. Their itinerary included a tour of the Center for Project Activities of Youth — Fablab Polytech, a member of the global Fab Lab network. Here, they engaged with virtual reality technologies used in engineering education and participated in modeling technological processes and creating virtual environments.
A significant part of their program was a visit to the "GazpromNeft-Polytech" Research and Education Center. The students gained insights into the center's activities and ongoing projects, furthering their understanding of the intersection between academia and industry in Russia's oil and gas sector. The visit concluded with an engaging session at the Industrial Streaming Data Processing Systems lab, where students discussed real-world cases and student projects with lab specialists.
Fan Xiaoyuan expressed optimism about the program, stating, "The Symphony of Cooperation international internship program is a fantastic opportunity for our students to explore the advancements in the oil and gas industry in Russia and to engage with leading universities. This exchange program provides a valuable foundation for future collaboration between our institutions, unlocking further potential for cooperative endeavors".
The students' visit to St. Petersburg also involved familiarizing themselves with cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in the oil industry, fostering an exchange of knowledge with their Russian counterparts. This initiative highlights the growing academic partnership between SPbPU and China Petroleum University, setting the stage for future collaborative opportunities in energy and technology.
