Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Xi Jinping of China have proclaimed 2024 and 2025 as the "Years of Culture between Russia and China." This initiative aims to deepen bilateral cooperation in science and education. A representative delegation from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, led by Rector Fu Mengyin, visited Polytechnic University. Nanjing University, a top-tier institution in Jiangsu Province, is a recipient of the "TOP-10 universities in Jiangsu Province" award.
Jiangsu Province is a key region for Jiangsu Polytechnic University in terms of scientific and educational collaboration. Recognizing the province's significant research, innovation, and production capabilities, Polytechnic University opened an International Office in 2022 at the Jiangsu Research Institute of Industrial Technology in Nanjing. This office operates with the support of the National Innovation Center of Excellence — Yangtze Delta.
The initial meeting between representatives of the two universities occurred in the fall of 2023 in Nanjing during the "Conference of Russian-Chinese Innovation Cooperation in Higher Technical Education, University Research, and Transfer of Scientific Achievements to Industry, Nanjing, 2023." During this conference, the main areas for potential collaboration were identified, which were further discussed during NUNT's visit to SPbPU in the spring of 2024.
In April 2024, a delegation from NUNT engaged in a working meeting with representatives from specialized institutes and international services. They identified priority areas for future joint projects, including automation, additive technologies, and robotics, and agreed to start by designing joint programs in these fields. SPbPU Rector Andrei Rudskoi, an Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, welcomed the visiting colleagues. He emphasized that cooperation with Nanjing University of Science and Technology offers unique opportunities for advancing scientific and educational collaboration and innovation transfer.
