Saudi Students Excel at the European Math Olympiad in Georgia

  • Two Saudi students demonstrated exceptional performance at the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad in Georgia, held from April 11-17. This prestigious event, attracting participants from 54 countries, serves as a platform for high school girls with a profound interest in mathematics beyond conventional studies.

    Represented by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) and the Ministry of Education, Saudi Arabia secured two medals in the competition. Fatimah Hassan Buali from Al-Ahsa and Retaj Al-Saleh from the Eastern Province received a bronze medal and a certificate of appreciation, respectively.

    This marks Saudi Arabia's 12th involvement in the Mathematical Olympiad, with a history of notable achievements. Over the years, Saudi students have amassed two gold, six silver, and 13 bronze medals, along with seven certificates of appreciation.

    Amal bint Abdullah Al-Hazzaa, Secretary-General of Mawhiba, lauded the students' accomplishments as emblematic of the collaboration between Saudi institutions and their dedication to nurturing young talent through education and training aligned with global standards. She commended the partnership between Mawhiba and the Ministry of Education, emphasizing its role in fostering Saudi human capital development in line with the National Transformation Program and Saudi Vision 2030.

    Mawhiba, in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, administers the Mawhiba Program for International Olympiads, aimed at preparing Saudi teams for such competitive platforms. This initiative encompasses comprehensive training and curriculum enhancements, reflecting the nation's commitment to excellence in international scientific engagements.

    Saudi girls selected to participate in the Mathematical Olympiad underwent rigorous training to enhance their scientific aptitude. Their selection was based on performance in training sessions organized by Mawhiba. Through strategic collaboration and focused initiatives, Saudi Arabia continues to empower its youth, preparing them to excel on global stages and contribute to the nation's progress in line with its ambitious development agendas.
