The Management Center of the Chinese University Humanities and Social Sciences Documentation Center (CASHL), under the Ministry of Education, hosted the CASHL Data, Service, and New Media Working Groups' re-election and 2024 Work Seminar at Nanjing University's Xianlin Campus. The event brought together nearly 60 directors and librarians from 20 leading university libraries, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Fudan University, among others. They discussed CASHL’s new strategies in data services, academic support, and new media development. Lu Xiancai, Vice President of Nanjing University, delivered a keynote address, and Huang Xianjin, Director of Nanjing University Library, chaired the opening ceremony.
Lu Xiancai emphasized that the CASHL project serves as a unique academic resource platform with distinct Chinese characteristics and plays a crucial role as a window for international dialogue in academia. He urged Nanjing University to leverage the CASHL platform more actively to globally share research outcomes on Chinese civilization. This platform also enables keen observation of international developments in humanities and social sciences, positioning Nanjing University to grasp academic frontiers. Additionally, he called for promoting China's latest research on modern civilization to enhance global understanding and showcase the deep heritage and unique charm of Chinese culture. This effort not only amplifies China's international influence but also strengthens the soft power of Chinese culture, contributing significantly to the nation's modern civilization.
Chen Jianlong, Director of CASHL Management Center and Peking University Library, reviewed CASHL's achievements and outlined specific goals for the new working group. He emphasized that central libraries under CASHL should align closely with the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, enhancing ideological fortitude and responsibility. Chen stressed the importance of integrating deeply with higher education document support systems and collaborating effectively with national science, technology, and cultural platforms. These efforts aim to maximize resource benefits for teachers and students, ensuring high-quality development of services and resources.
At the change of leadership ceremony, the CASHL Management Center issued appointment letters to the new members of the Data Working Group, Service Working Group, and New Media Working Group. The new working group members all expressed that they will inherit and carry forward the fine traditions, continuously innovate the working mechanism, improve the service level, and provide researchers and scholars in the humanities and social sciences of universities with better quality and more efficient literature resources.
