China has launched a new Global Language Services Platform aimed at improving language services across the country. The initiative was introduced at the Forum on Foreign Language Education Reform and Development for Higher Education Institutions. Its main goal is to meet the needs of both language service providers and users by connecting key stakeholders, such as governments, businesses, universities, research institutes, and language experts.
The platform includes three sub-platforms. The first one connects language talent with specific needs in the industry. The second focuses on integrating resources for language training. The third sub-platform is dedicated to linguistic research and the preservation of languages.
Liu Peijun, Director of the Language and Text Information Management Department at China’s Education Ministry, explained that the platform is a practical step toward building a national language service system. This system will help improve the education sector, which is seen as a key pillar for China’s growth.
Yang Wei, president of the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Association, added that the platform would help advance the reform and development of foreign language education in China. This move is seen as an important step in improving China’s language services and educational resources, creating a stronger connection between the country’s education system and the global language service industry.
The platform is expected to play a crucial role in supporting China’s language needs and fostering greater international communication and collaboration in the field of education and research.
