Association of International Shipping Lines (AISL) was able to effectively hold the inaugural session of its continuing education program as part of its mission to develop competencies of its member lines and industry partners.
The 'A Short Course on Shipping Operations!' was held on March 11 and gathered professionals willing to gain further insights on the shipping industry, AISL said in a release.
The intensive training program that lasts one day is aimed at accelerated learning for the participants about the shipping business so that they obtain necessary industry awareness, main jargon, and practical exposure about shipping operations, documentation, and compliance.
This session was organized by Joseph Collantes, operation and logistics manager of RCL Philippines, Inc., whose pedagogical philosophy of realistic teaching ensured that an interactive and enlightened learning experience resulted, AISL said.
The association averred that it launched the training as part of its long-term objective of upscaling and enhancing the skill levels of member lines doing business in the Philippines.
In the light of the constantly changing marine environment, AISL said that it seeks to offer a window of continuous learning so that shipping professionals are equipped to handle the challenges and advances of the industry.
Attendees were provided with an in-depth training workbook and a Certificate of Completion, signifying their participation in the course, which included interactive discussions, case studies, and real-world applications.
As AISL continues to grow its educational program, the association stated the kickoff session is a building block in a larger continuing education program for AISL member lines and industry partners.
Additional sessions and more advanced courses will be conducted by AISL president Patrick Ronas and executive director Maximino Cruz, the association added.
