CGC Jhanjeri Campus Joins South Asia Green Campus Program to Boost Environmental Sustainability

  • Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Jhanjeri Campus has embarked on a major environmental sustainability initiative by joining the South Asia Green Campus Program, in partnership with The Climate Reality Project India and South Asia. This collaboration underscores CGC Jhanjeri's commitment to fostering environmental consciousness and promoting conservation among its students.

The formal agreement was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CGC Jhanjeri’s Managing Director, Arsh Dhaliwal, and Aditya Pandher, Director of The Climate Reality Project India and South Asia. The partnership aims to enhance the campus's environmental practices and inspire students to engage actively in nature conservation.

Following the MoU signing, an orientation program was held to introduce the Green Campus Program to students and staff. The event was complemented by a tree plantation drive on campus, symbolizing the launch of this ambitious initiative. The drive aligns with CGC Jhanjeri’s ongoing efforts, having already been recognized as the greenest campus in the state.

MD Arsh Dhaliwal emphasized the role of educational institutions in instilling a culture of natural resource conservation. He stated that the Green Campus Program will be supported by a range of educational activities, including the creation of engaging digital content and the organization of seminars and workshops. These efforts aim to raise awareness about climate change, resource conservation, and sustainability within the campus community and beyond.

Chairman of CGC, Rachpal Singh Dhaliwal, expressed that the Green Campus Program resonates with the institution’s vision of fostering a sustainable future. He believes that tackling the climate crisis necessitates long-term, impactful solutions, and educational institutions are well-positioned to lead these efforts. By promoting environmental values and practical changes, CGC Jhanjeri sets a precedent for cultivating a more eco-conscious future among its students and the wider community.
