Lingnan University recently inaugurated the School of Data Science (SDS) in a ceremony attended by distinguished figures including Prof Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Mr Tim Lui, Chairman of the University Grants Committee (UGC), and other prominent guests. Prof Sun Dong underscored the significance of this milestone, expressing confidence in the university's ability to blend arts, humanities, and sciences seamlessly within the realm of data science, a field indispensable in today's digital landscape.
He commended Lingnan's commitment to offering diverse programs in Data Science and AI, crucial in meeting the escalating demand for skilled professionals in these areas, thereby contributing to the government's objectives of bolstering the local talent pool and fueling economic growth through innovation and technology.
Mr Andrew Yao Cho-fai highlighted the School's pivotal role in nurturing innovative talents not only for Hong Kong but also for the Mainland and beyond. He emphasized the university's advantageous position in Hong Kong, benefiting from strong support from mainland China and global connections. President S.
