Universities in Japan are offering B.Tech degrees in computer science at significantly lower fees to students from the State who couldn't secure spots in their preferred engineering colleges. Additionally, graduates may have the opportunity to obtain permanent residency (PR) upon completing the course. With Japan experiencing a substantial increase in its aging population, there is a growing demand for skilled and technically proficient youth in emerging fields like Artificial Intelligence.
V. Raja Ram of Medico Abroad, an educational consultant, states that graduates are assured of job placements by their final year, with salaries ranging from ₹30-35 lakh. Additionally, they are guaranteed permanent residency (similar to the U.S. Green Card) after three years of work experience. Following this, they can expect salary increases and opportunities to participate in recruitment for space and defense sectors.
Indian students pursuing a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering in India typically spend around ₹20 lakh on tuition, hostel, food, and other expenses. They often plan to further their education in the U.S., U.K., Canada, or Australia, which can cost an additional ₹25-30 lakh for a master's degree. Employment opportunities generally arise only after completing the MS. In contrast, Mr. Raja Ram notes that Japanese universities offer an international degree at a much lower cost, along with assured employment.
Starting in their third year, international students in Japan will be permitted to work part-time officially for up to 28 hours per week. According to Mr. Raja Ram, this opportunity allows them to earn enough to cover their tuition fees and other expenses while completing their studies.
