APIIT Sri Lanka Unveils Modern Learning Space for Foundation Studies

  • The APIIT School of Foundation Studies has inaugurated its new headquarters, situated within the state-of-the-art Access Towers II Office Complex on Union Place, Colombo 2. This modern setting heralds a shift in educational paradigms, aiming to revolutionize teaching and learning methodologies. Dr. Bharati Singh and Dr. Jobair Alam from Staffordshire University, UK, were present at the opening ceremony. Designed to promote collaboration and interactive learning, the new facility features adaptable classrooms and unconventional learning spaces, fostering a dynamic culture of synergistic education.

    The APIIT School of Foundation Studies aims to inspire a love for learning through this modern setting to encourage young minds to express themselves and lend wings to their creativity. With a focus on gearing students not just for higher education but for life, the APIIT Sri Lanka Foundation Programme is offered in three streams: Computing, Business and Law. These programmes have been carefully designed to prepare students for the respective degree programmes from Staffordshire University, UK delivered at APIIT Sri Lanka. The Foundation Programme offered by APIIT Sri Lanka fast-tracks the higher education journey of GCE O/L qualified students by providing an alternative pathway to university.

    The Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT), Sri Lanka established in 1999, has a longstanding partnership with Staffordshire University, UK since its inception. Since then, APIIT Sri Lanka has evolved significantly to become a purpose-driven, value-centered organization committed to “inspire love for learning”.

    At present, operating campuses in Colombo and Kandy, APIIT Sri Lanka boasts a student body exceeding 2,600 and an annual intake of nearly 1,500 students. It stands as one of Sri Lanka's premier providers of foreign undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. APIIT Sri Lanka has facilitated the graduation of over 5,000 students in fields such as Business, Computing, and Law, accredited by Staffordshire University. With a proven track record, over 90% of its graduates secure employment within three months of graduation, demonstrating their high employability.

    Additionally, APIIT Sri Lanka collaborates with NCUK to offer globally recognized pathway programs, enabling students to access over 60 universities in seven countries worldwide. In 2023, APIIT Sri Lanka distinguished itself with exceptional results, with nine out of ten top achievers in South Asia for the NCUK International Foundation Year hailing from its programs. Furthermore, APIIT Sri Lanka produced the top achiever in South Asia, further solidifying its reputation for academic excellence.

    The APIIT City Campus is comprised of various academic entities, with the Business School, School of Computing, and Graduate School occupying a dedicated six-story building at 388 Union Place. The Law School is situated on Level 3 of Access Towers, Union Place, while the School of Foundation Studies has found its new home at Access Towers II, Union Place. This strategic placement reflects APIIT Sri Lanka's commitment to expanding its presence within Colombo 2, evolving into a dynamic 'City Campus' that evolves alongside the city, fostering a culture of passion for learning.
