AJK school prevails at COP28 for sustainable agriculture

  • As indicated by an official statement, the Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust (Kort) Educational and Residential Complex triumphed in the Global High Schools (South Asia) category. The school was built in Mirpur with the support of neighboring country Pakistan after the catastrophic earthquake of 2005, imparting education and providing accommodation to 1,500 orphan children. The school is functioning on projects for organic farming and water conservation “to provide nutrimental food to students and community members", quoted in a tweet posted on the award’s official Twitter account. The school was appreciated as the largest orphanage in South Asia, underscored by Chaudhry Akhter, Kort Chairman.

As a non-profit organization, Kort is committed to assist and provide orphaned children with high-quality education, hostel facilities, food, clothing, and medical care". United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan awarded two students who spoke on behalf of the school at a climate conference.

This identification for the Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust for its excellent contributions towards sustainable applications coordinates with the broader communal goal of ensuring a better future for orphans", APP quoted Mr Akhter as saying. “Kort’s attending the COP28 summit  not only signifies their commitment to the well-being of orphaned children but also includes them in the list of global leaders to  pursue sustainability and positive change”.
